Visiting Montana

In the summertime, the Treasure State's nickname is more fitting than any other season. Outdoor adventures await in Montana's iconic state and national parks, and communities from Havre to Billings welcome visitors with countless special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities.

Now that the snow has melted, Yellowstone National Park is ripe for exploration. Bozeman, with its Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and West Yellowstone, with its especially convenient proximity, make ideal base camps for a Yellowstone excursion. Still, there's so much more for outdoor enthusiasts to see.

Take advantage of Montana's sunny-yet-mild weather by embarking on a scenic driving tour to see it all this summer – focal points like Glacier National Park are worthy destinations, and communities like Missoula, Kalispell, and Whitefish are perfect places to stop along the way.

The 2016 Lewis & Clark Festival is this year's iteration of one of Great Falls' most beloved traditions. Held June 17th through 19th, the festival features everything from bluegrass concerts at the Gibson Park Band Shell to various Lewis & Clark themed activities to a scenic dinner cruise hosted by the Lewis and Clark Foundation.

Music lovers converge in Butte for one of the Northwest's largest outdoor concert events, July 8th through 19th. The 2016 Montana Folk Festival fills venues thoughout the downtown area with the sounds of an eclectic array of local, national, and international artists. Best of all, it's free.

Thanks to Montana's cool and comfortable weather, fair fun comes before summer's even done. The 2016 Montana Fair fills the MetraPark grounds in Billings with all the staples families have come to know and love. Midway rides and games, 4-H agricultural and livestock exhibitions and competitions, petting zoos, fried food, live music – you name it, it's all here from August 12th through 20th.
