Montana enjoys winter recreation from Bear Paw Ski Bowl near Havre and Blacktail Mountain Ski Area south of Kalispell, to Bozeman’s Bridger Bowl and beyond. Take highway 93 north from Missoula to experience Glacier National Park cross-country Ski Trails. The Bitterroot National Forest Cross-Country Ski Trails are convenient to Butte, Helena and Missoula. South of Bozeman and Livingston, enjoy Montana’s Yellowstone Country outside Gardiner on snowmobile or experience the cross country trails through the Gallatin National Forest. The Montana community of West Yellowstone is a gateway to 180 miles of groomed trails in Yellowstone National Park – winter is a season of fun and adventure across Big Sky Country.

For an extreme Montana winter experience check out Hyalite Canyon, south of Bozeman, a mecca for ice climbers. Summer's many waterfalls freeze in winter, creating a wonderland of natural ice climbing formations. Canyon Ferry Reservoir, convenient to Helena, Great Falls and Butte is a hub for the excitement of Montana’s ice boating. West Yellowstone’s Rendezvous Ski Trails offer 35 kilometers of groomed trails for skate skiing – Montana is full of winter adventures.

West Yellowstone Montana is considered by many as the snowmobile capital of the world, and is also a popular winter hot spot for cross-country skiers. West Yellowstone is home of the Yellowstone Rendezvous Race one of North America’s premier cross country marathon races.

The 2013 Yellowstone Rendezvous Race is held March 2nd, featuring six races ranging in distance from 2k to 50k. The community of West Yellowstone adds to the weekend's festivities with fun at the West Yellowstone Ice Rink and the Kid’s Sledding Hill. Enjoy classic winter fun in West Yellowstone.

Billings, located along Interstate 90 through southern Montana, keeps warm during the winter by cheering on Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s basketball teams at Rocky’s Fortin Center. Not far up the road, the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets basketball teams put on a show for visitors on their home court at Alterowitz Gymnasium. Billings Hockey Fans head for Centennial Ice Arena on game nights when the Billings Bulls face off with opponents.

Come spring, Billing’s Rimrock Auto Arena welcomes the Built Ford Tough Series Professional Bull Riders to town. Catch the 2013 excitement April 5th through the 7th and see the world’s top bull riders compete for the championship buckle. Rimrock Auto Arena is part of the Billings MetraPark multifacility events campus.

The Montana Pavilion and Expo Center at MetraPark host the state’s largest agricultural trade show. MATE, the annual Montana Agri-Trade Exposition is held in Billings February 14th through 16th. Marking the 37th year for MATE, visitors browse more than 425 exhibitors that will fill the Expo Center, with the Northern Rodeo finals hosted during the evenings.
